Getting Started

Installation

System requirements, installation steps, verification, and uninstalling Accounts Receivable on WooCommerce.

System Requirements

Accounts Receivable requires the following minimum versions to install and run:

  • WordPress 7.0 or later
  • WooCommerce 11.1 or later
  • PHP 7.4 or later

WooCommerce must be installed and active. Without it, Accounts Receivable loads nothing and shows a notice on the Plugins screen saying that it requires WooCommerce.

Accounts Receivable declares compatibility with WooCommerce’s High-Performance Order Storage (HPOS) and reads orders through WooCommerce’s own order functions, so stores with HPOS enabled and stores without it both work without configuration changes.

The plugin keeps its records in two database tables of its own, created when you activate it, and saves a payment and the invoices it settles in a single database transaction. The tables are created with the InnoDB storage engine, because only InnoDB can guarantee that both are saved or neither is. If the tables end up on another engine and the plugin cannot convert them, its screens show a warning that the server cannot guarantee atomic writes.

Install From WordPress.org

Install Accounts Receivable directly from Plugins → Add New in your WordPress admin by searching for “Kascado Accounts Receivable”.

Install From a ZIP File

Download the plugin ZIP file from WordPress.org and follow these steps.

  1. Open your WordPress admin and navigate to Plugins → Add New.
  2. Click Upload Plugin at the top of the page.
  3. Click Choose File and select the Accounts Receivable ZIP file.
  4. Click Install Now.
  5. After installation completes, click Activate Plugin.

Verify the Plugin Is Running

After activation, verify the plugin is working correctly.

Check 1: The Kascado menu appears

In your WordPress admin sidebar, look for a top-level Kascado menu. Inside it, you should see an Accounts Receivable submenu.

Check 2: The first-run screen loads

Click Kascado → Accounts Receivable. On a new install nothing has been recorded yet, so instead of figures the page shows Three steps to your first balance: choose which payment methods create receivables, import past orders or start from today, and record payments as the money arrives. The page turns into the receivables dashboard as soon as the first charge or payment is recorded.

Check 3: Permissions work correctly

Only users with the manage_woocommerce capability can see the menu, open the plugin’s screens, record entries or download an export. Users without this capability will not see the menu item.

Uninstalling

Deactivating the plugin changes nothing. It has no deactivation routine, so its tables and settings stay exactly as they are, and everything is back when you reactivate it.

Deleting the plugin from the Plugins screen runs its uninstall routine, which is permanent. It:

  • Drops the plugin’s two database tables. That is the entire payment history: every charge, payment, credit, write-off and correction you recorded, and the record of which invoices each payment settled. There is no undo.
  • Deletes the plugin’s settings: the payment methods you chose, the role filter and the default payment terms.
  • Deletes the shared B2B role list, unless another Kascado plugin still uses it. The list is kept while another installed Kascado plugin that uses it is present, active or not. Otherwise it is deleted.
  • Deletes the plugin’s temporary data.

It leaves your WooCommerce orders untouched. Orders, refunds and customer accounts stay exactly as they are; only Accounts Receivable’s own records are removed.

If you want to keep a record of who owed what, download the balances CSV before you delete the plugin. It holds each customer’s balance, not the entry-by-entry history.

Next Steps

Once installation is verified, continue with Configuration to choose which payment methods create receivables and decide whether to import the orders already in your store.
